Tongo ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Tongo mobile app and related realtime translation services.

1. Information We Collect

• Microphone audio and speech content. During an active live translation session, Tongo captures microphone audio and sends it to the configured Tongo realtime relay so translation can be produced. The app may display source text, translated text, and translated speech during the session.
• Conversation text in the app. Conversation text may be visible in the app's local in-memory conversation history during the active session. Tongo does not intentionally store raw audio, transcripts, or translated text on the relay as a product feature.
• Device and app information. We may process app version, build number, locale, selected languages, translation mode, subscription status, and microphone permission status.
• Analytics identifiers and usage data. Tongo uses a locally generated installation identifier stored in the iOS Keychain, a session identifier, and a small allowlisted set of analytics events such as app opened, paywall shown, demo started, translation started or stopped, purchase tapped, restore tapped, language changed, and translation errors.
• Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We may receive StoreKit status information and product identifiers needed to unlock premium access, but we do not receive your full payment card details.
• Support communications. If you contact us, we may process the email address and information you provide in the request.

2. How We Use Information

• To provide realtime voice translation, translated text, translated speech, quick phrases, and conversation UI.
• To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Tongo realtime relay and mobile app.
• To understand feature usage, paywall flow health, demo usage, translation errors, and subscription restore or purchase outcomes.
• To manage subscriptions, restore purchases, and provide customer support.
• To comply with legal obligations, App Store requirements, and security needs.

3. Realtime Translation and AI Use

Tongo uses automated realtime translation technologies. During a live session, microphone audio is streamed to the Tongo relay, which connects to realtime translation providers so translated speech and text can be returned to the app. Tongo does not use your audio or conversation text to train a custom Tongo model.

4. Analytics

Tongo analytics are intentionally narrow. Analytics events do not include raw audio, transcripts, translated text, contacts, precise location, photos, or user-entered conversation content. Analytics records may include event name, timestamps, installation identifier, session identifier, app version, build number, locale, selected languages, selected backend, and short allowlisted properties.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data and do not use your data for third-party advertising tracking. We may share or process data with service providers that help us operate Tongo, including realtime translation providers, cloud hosting providers, database infrastructure, and Apple for App Store purchases. We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, security needs, or in connection with a business transaction.

6. Data Retention

Raw audio, transcripts, and translated text are not intentionally retained on the Tongo relay as a product feature. Conversation text may remain visible locally in the app while a session is active. Analytics records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate, debug, and improve the service. Support communications may be retained as needed to handle the request and satisfy legal or business requirements.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. User Rights and Choices

• You can stop a live translation session at any time.
• You can revoke microphone access in iOS Settings.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID settings.
• You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by contacting us.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. We take steps intended to ensure that information is handled consistently with this Privacy Policy.

10. Children's Privacy

Tongo is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that such data has been collected, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
